5 Nutrition Tips to Feel Calm
Feeling calm is my number one priority these days, the calmer I feel the happier I am and the better EVERYTHING is, literally!
I love meditation and breath work, both are powerful tools to harmonise the nervous system and slow the mind down to allow the wisdom of our inner Being to shine its light, which feels much better than fear and worry ;)
Right now we find ourselves in a time when feeling calm and happy maybe more of a challenge than usual, even if you don’t watch the news, the collective energy is intense.
Supporting our physical body through nutrition can be a really helpful way to encourage a sense of grounding, which is essential to feel calm.
Being grounded is a superpower right now, so here are my favourite ways to Be grounded and feel calm:
Eat regularly and don’t skip meals, if you feel ungrounded, nervous or anxious this will only exacerbate these sensations. Wholesome, nourishing food eaten at regular mealtimes will help to create a sense of stability, rhythm and routine that will support your body, and mind, in feeling calm.
Cooked grains are full of B vitamins to support the nervous system and stress response, as well as a steady supply of slow release energy. They also have grounding and nourishing qualities. Organic oats, quinoa, buckwheat, quinoa and rice are all good choices. Always choose grains by how they feel when you eat them, the most important thing is that you eat foods that your body can digest easily and comfortably.
Ghee is magical! The nutritional benefits of organic, grass-fed ghee are abundant and far beyond the topic of this particular blog. Ghee is nourishing, nurturing, soothes the central nervous system, supports digestion and has wonderful grounding qualities for your body and mind, on all levels. Use in cooking, add to steamed greens like kale, stir into warm quinoa or rice, or even add to your porridge.
Add salt to your water to hydrate, remineralise and support a calm, steady heart rate! Salt is your friend but quality is everything here, try Pink Himalayan or Celtic. Add a good pinch to your water, particularly first thing in the morning to really support your system and pave the way for calm.
Go easy on the caffeine. A good alternative is Rooibos tea, naturally caffeine free, excellent for digestion and nutrient dense, including iron, and therefore is super grounding and nourishing.
Sending you calm, grounding vibes.
